On tonight we met and we had two presentations. Ms. Cannon and
Mrs. Powell gave a presentation on how to make Business Cards.
In their history of the business cards I learned that "business cards"
goes all the way back to the 15th Century. And what we call
business cards started out as being called "visiting cards" and then
they were referred to as "calling cards". In order to make these
cards you must have the following things: computer, softwear
(MicroSoft Publisher), paper and a printer. And they showed
a very beautiful card with a photo on it.
Ms. McGee presented on Pasco Spark. I learned on tonight that
this is not just software or hardware, but that it is an intergrated
Science Environment. It has a touch sreen and a very big resolution,
which is 4x's the size most handheld data loggers.
Dr. Kang talked to us about 5 Stages of Technology Integration.
The five stages consist of Entry, Adoption, Adaptation,
Appopriation, and Invention. He touched basis on our Propsal
again, and he informed us that we will present on the next class.
He explained that we will have only 10 minutes to present and
five minutes to answer questions. Dr. Kang said that this is the
very last powerpoint that he will present.
Well-----Dr. KangI must say I have enjoyed this class. Now I must
be honest and say that the first I didn't think I was going to like my
peers teaching me about technology. I said I wanted you to do it,
but I really like the way you had the students to teach us, and at
the same time you did too. I must applaud up .

We were out of school for the Thanksgiving Holidays.
And I truly thank God for all his many BLESSINGS,
both GREAT and Small. For I do realize that HE is
the REASON for ALL of our SEASONS.

On tonight we had quite a few classmates to present, and I
was among thatbunch. I really had been kind of nervous,
and like everyone who has to present on the nights assigned,
I think no matter how you matter how the indiviual may be
prepared you still will have a tendency to get a few of those
nervous bugs in your stomach. And this is exactly what I had
on tonight for some reason. Well---we had the following
people to present on the following things Promethean
(Ms. Johnson/Ms. Mikell), IPad Mac (Ms. Riley/Ms. White),
I Photo (Ms. Nicholas), Flash Cards (Didn't get the names).
Well-------about 7:30 p.m., my parter, Ms. Willis received
a very upsetting emergency call concerning one of her family
members. So guss what------I think the few bugs I had in
my stomach increased (smile), because I had to do the pre-
sentation by myself. Well-------I made it through it, and my
classesmates informed me that they think I did a really good
job. As I always say, "PRAISE BELONGS TO GOD".
Dr. Kang did a presentation on Googleearth and on some-
thing called Gloster Making, which I really enjoyed, and this
would make your presentation live. Both of these pre-
sentation were very interesting, and it was something I had
never seen before. To be honest I enjoyed ALL of the
presentation on today, and YES--------I even enjoyed
myself (smile).

On tonight we met to work on our PROPOSAL. We looked up some other
samples on line to try and get a clearer picture of exactly what we are really
suppose to be doing. The movie says, "ARE WE THERE YET"? Well--------
the answer to that is "NO"---------Dr. Kang, but we are sure working on it.
And again thank you so much for allowing us to do this Clinical, and if you
want us to do another we sure will accept your offer. Thanks again.

On tonight we had three presentations and they were as follows: Please note I will just touch basis on the
jest of their presentation.
PRESENTATIONS

*Engrade Helps Teachers*
The presenters for tonight was Ms. Woodberry/Ms. McDowell were scheduled to give this presentation but it was only given by one presenter. In htis presentation we were informed that rather than carrying around a gradebook we could set up a web-based site on the computer online, which would allow teachers to provide information to not only be sent to students but it could also be sent out to parents. It allows students/parents to see upcoming homework, assignment scores, class grades, attendance, and private messages.
It was explained to us exactly how we would go about signing up for the Engrade Account. We were informed that this site is very private, secure, easy to use, and what is so good about this is that it is free. It was stated that "Teachers really love Engrade" .
*I-POD Touch*
This presentation was presented by Ms. Lisa Bond and Ms. Ramona Landry. During their presentation they informed us of all the things that the I-POD Touch offers, which were as follows (a music player, a video recorder and player, internet, a calendar, contacts, voice memo, game center, just to name a few). We were informed that that the applications are basically free. They said if there are any prices they start at 99 cents and does not go over about $9.99.
The presenters showed and talked about some of the assessories that you can get to go to your I-POD Touch. We were informed that if we wanted to purchase an I-POD Touch the prices range from about $200 to about $400+ .
*Introduction to Excel*
This presentation was presented by Ms. Erica Jones and Ms. Jackie Milsap, and they informed the class of their objectivies concerning their presentation. They defined what a Spread Sheet is, and they defined it as being a program that allows an individual to use data to forecast, manage, present and present different information. I learned that a Spread Sheet can be used by Shools to compile grades and payroll. It can be used in Sports to compile team statistics. I learned that for Personal Use, suchas with checkbooks or household expenses and with Business for payroll and investments.
*Back To The Lecture*
Dr. Kang discussed our Technology Proposal. He told us the purpose of the Proposal is to request support for our project and our organization. He addressed the tips we would use for success that we would use. And he addressed the Proposal Request. Dr, Kang basically addressed how we would do the Proposal, and he gave a website we could use. And he stated that on November 9th we would meet to write our Proposal Writing as a group. My group members and I would like to take this time to say, "THANK-YOU" Dr. Kang for your kindness.

October 26, 2010
On tonight once again our Hattiesburg (PACE) Site experienced some techinal difficulties, and it took us about 30 plus minutes before we were able to see some of the things the presenterswere discussing concerning their Emerging Tech Sowcase. On tonight the three presenters (the three groups) were as follows: Sandra Hilbert and Sharetha Bullock informed the class how we could make a moving using Microsoft live Movie Maker. They informed us how we would go about getting our videos and photos onto our computer, which was Step One. Then they informed us in Step Two how we could edit our project, and in Step Three which was their last step, they informed us how to go about publishing our movie on to the web.
The second presenters (Diana McClendon and Sharon Hall) informed the class how we could go about using FACEBOOK. First they gave us a history of Facebook, then they informed us of how we would go about logging in. They informed us that the actual cost of Facebook is free, but that in order to post an Ad on Facebook, it could cost from $25 to $30,000 plus dollars. They also informed us of what is really needed in order to post pictures and other information. They went in to deatail concerning what skills would be required to use Facebook when it comes to actually using Facebook in the classroom. They said that when it comes to the classroom Facebnook would be used so students would basically get to know other students. But they stated that this is not somethng they would recommend that students use in the classroom, because they felt it could be too tempting for the students to use it in other inappropriate areas. I learned that in order for someone to be on facebook they should be at least 13 years of age.
Emma Powell did not present on last week as scheduled, and she presented on tonight. Her presentation on tonight was discussing on how we would go about using oovoo for video chat, sending files, and recording with your webcam. She went through all the steps, and she contacted her niece (Nicole). She experienced a few problems, but she did go through the steps.
According to the agenda for tonight we were suppose to have another presentation on how "Engrade Help Teachers", by Leveta Woodberry and Adrienne Mcdowell, but I think they may have been the students from the Amite Site who were experiencing some problems getting to class because of a very bad accident Dr. Kang discussed on tonight about "Standards". However, I had put all this information on my blog on last week. Please note I was out ill on last week, so I just assumed from the information that I received via e-mail that was addressed on last week.
On tonight Dr. Kang asked us to address two questions, and they were as follows:
QUESTIONS
* "How might ISTE Standards influence our classroom"?
Personally I think because it gives access to technology as well as to other resources, it definitely assists in meeting the educational equity of students who make be diagnosed with what is referred to as "Special Needs", and by doing so this would be a form of quality instruction through technology.
* "How does the use of computer and internet influence a
teacher's pedagogical practices"?
Personally I think the use of a computer and internet has a significant influence, and it plays a
GREAT part in a teacher's pedagogical practices. Because for example as Ms. McClendon and Ms. Hall discussed during their presentation said that Facebook could be used a social network for ALL type of activities. So although they did recommend it because everybody is entitled to their own opinion, they NEVER said that it couldn't be used. So this (FACEBOOK) could be one form of pedagogical practice through the use of computer/internet that a teacher could utilize. Another form of pedagogical practice that a teacher could use through the use of computer/internet could be from what Ms. Emma Powell discussed in her prersentation on tonight concerning "OOOVOO". In her presentation she informed us how this form of technology could be used in the classroom for conferences with parents, to share information concerning the students' work with the parents, to use as an after-school tool to help assist a student in need of extra help,
and it could also be used as a way to let Guest Speakers give lectures.

October 12, 2010
On tonight we had what you could call an extended class because all eight groups had to present exactly what took place during their clinicial. This presentation was basically support to be based on the survey that Dr. Kang had attached to our syllabus entitled A survey of school-based technology resources, applications and needs. This survey had to address specific details such as the available technology resources including the different types of computers, software etc. Then you should explain your classroom school buildings on even at the district level of technology. We had to tell how the needs assessment was really conducted. We had to describe a lesson of unity activity which our group explained and discussed CPAA. In this survey we also had to give a brief professional development as well as our technology competencies. These presentations consisted of verbal communications, poster presentations, powerpoints, and videos.

October 5, 2010
On tonight we had three presenters, Ms. Chanda Grant, and she informed us how to use a Jump Drive. This was very interesting, although I am a non-traditional student I did know how to use this particular technology. But it took me awhile to learn how to do it. As a matter of fact it was just as recent as 2008. It's sad, but it is so true. Now-----I just found out from Ms. Grant that the actual name of this technonolgy is "jump drive. All the time that I have heard the name of this technology, I thought they were saying "junk drive". And although I was ashamed, I felt better when some of the people in class said that they thought this is what the name of this technology was also. But guess what--------all of us who thought that this was called a "junk drive", were all the non traditional students in the class.
Another presenter was Ms. Olicia C. King and she explained how to use Microsoft Publisher. This particular form of technology she explained could only be used for a certain amount of days, and afterwards it could range from $46 to $125 to purchase this software. She explained that in order to purchase the whole entire package it would cost $125. The other presenters were Ms. Kimberly Hulitt and Ms. Stephanie Small, and they informed us how to go about publishing a video on the internet.
Dr. Kang discussed Lesson Planning and Organization, and he informed us that he wanted everyone to develope a Lesson Plan and have it ready on the night that you present your Showcase. He gave an example of where we can find a Lesson Plan.
ASSIGNMENT:
On tonight Dr. Kang asked the class to choose three students' e-portfolios that we like the best. I looked at the e-portfolios, the ones that I could actual view, because some of them had nothing, and Mrs. Powell from PACE. Out of the three Ms. Cannon's was beautiful. the colorful flowers just caught my eye, and it was very detailed. Ms. Johnson's was also detailed. Mrs. Powell's was really nice and it had a pretty color, but I wasn't able to view all of her communications.

CLINICAL:
On last night our group met and discussed in detail our Survey of the School Based
Technology Resource Application. We corresponed with the Education Specialist for
PACE Head Start, as she was interviewed concerning the Survey. The Education
Specialist is Ms. Erica Jones, and she provided us with some very pertinent information
needed to complete the Survey. We had a very interesting clinical.

On tonight we had 3 presenters, which was Cristal Holmes, and she presented on how to burn a CD, Sherry Samuel and Diane Reese who presented on how to do a powerpoint, and Darron Daniel who presented on how to go about creating an xtranormal. All out all this presentations I must say that this was the most EXCITING one I have seen yet. This was very interesting, and it denefitely was an "eye catcher".
We did a Group Activity. We had to create a Concept Map and address the factors affecting technology in classrooms today, and we had to submit it to Dr.Kong.

CLINICAL
On this Evening we went to our PACE CENTER (JONES) to their Computer Lab, in an effort to complete
our Survey of this center's technology resources. Because of evryones work schedule we were unable to arrive at the facility before 6:00pm on last night (September 14, 2010). However we have made arrangement to meet early on our next clinical, scheduled for September 28th, in an effort to complete an assessment on a four-year old child.
Please Note: The child we choose to assess because of confidentiality reasons, we will not be able to give the name of the child. we will use an alien name, and give the results of the assessment. The Assessment that we will conduct is called CPAA, which is basically a short name for " Children's Progress Academic Assessment".
The purpose of this assessment is to screen the children who attend JONES (PACE HEAD START), who are ages 4 to 5. This assessment can go up to Third Graders, but because PACE HEAD START only service Pre-K, this is the only reason we addressed children ages 4 to 5.
The computer lab is not as large as some of the labs in the regular City or County School Districts,
however, the children at this Center is able to able to use technology to develop skills that they may have not been able to otherwise receive, because even in this 21st Century there are so many families who do not own a computer.

On tonight in class we had two classmates to present their Technology Showcase.  The presenters were Ms. Weaver and Mr. Woodard.  Both of their showcases were very intense and they included a lot of important information.  Ms. Weaver explained to the class how to create a blog, also referred to as an Electronic Portfolio.  Ms. Weaver explained before setting up your blog, you need to first set up a GMail account.  Ms. Weaver informed the class unless you wanted to pay, you should look for free links.  And she recommended http://www.blogger.com/.   She explained that there are four different elements involved in creating a blog or electronic portfolio.
Mr. Woodard discussed video/audio clip editing. he explained to the class how to bring the real world into your classroom. Mr. Woodard explained that photos could be added as an advantage. he went on to inform us that one of the major disadvantages is really not knowing how to use this particular forms of technology. Mr. Woodard stated that there are two types of videos and he explained taht they are as follows:
Dr. Kang reviewed and touched basis on information concerning some of the theories we talked about on last week. Dr. Kang had the sites to create and draw a concept map. The concept map had to show the relationship among concepts. This map showed graphical tools.
The three theories were as follow:
Next week we will not have class, but our group which consists of five individuals will work our cliniacal activity. we will resume with class on Tuesday, September 21st.

August 31, 2010
This is the second week of class and Dr. Kang lectured on the different learning theories.  I learned even when it comes to Technology that learning theories consist of Behaviorism(Reinforcement-Reward), Congnitivism(Information process), Constructivism and Connectivism.
I learned that the key elements for the 21st century, learning consists of the following things just to name a few:
Dr.Kang begin to teach the class how to create a website. However he only had two minutes, and he ran out of time.
Next week I would like for Dr. Kang to take his time and teach us how to create a website in an appropriate manner, so we will know exactly what to do.
Dr. Kang discussed the clinical activities he wanted us to complete as a group. He also touched basis on the Grant Proposal we would work on as I understood to also be a group project.

- To emphasize learning skills
 - Technology is used to develop skills
 - People teach and learn with technology

The first week we introduced ourselves.  We went through what our Instructor(Dr.Kang) called self Introduction Part I and Part II.  We didn't really learn a lot on tonight because we were experiencing some problems and it was very hard to hear because of all the talking.  I really couldn't understand much of what Dr. Kang was saying.
We were placed in groups and we were asked to create a "wish list".  My group was under the impression that the list we created were things that Dr. Kang would teach us to do.
Next week I would like for Dr. Kang to teach us how to do some of the things people may have had on their wish list, because so many of us are not computer literate.
